Knitted or crocheted blankets for our Get Britain Knitting campaign

Knit or crochet a beautiful blanket to help support a very important charity.

prima has partnered with knitting for peace, who launched a campaign to ‘Get Britain Knitting’ for good causes.

All blankets made by our prima Readers will be used by the charity to help support struggling families in the UK.

Founder of knitting for peaceDame Hilary Blume says: “Our charity always needs blankets. Many families live on the poverty line and these blankets make a huge difference.

The charity is keen for knitters to work together and promotes the idea that knitters ‘make and fix’ by creating blankets from leftover yarn. “We love to see knitters use all the bits of yarn that every craftsman has,” says Dame Hilary.

Alternatively, readers can knit blankets to display or sell, with donations to charity.

So why not give it a shot?

You can knit or crochet any pattern you like. The most needed sizes are medium and large.

  • Medium measures 60 x 70 inches / 150 x 180 cm or 50 x 70 inches / 130 x 180 cm
  • The large measures 80 x 90 inches / 200 x 230 cm or 70 x 90 inches / 180 x 230 cm

But this is only a guideline. Don’t worry if your blanket isn’t exactly the recommended size.
